Few people these days would call Auchwitz "this great enterprise". However, the number of its victims is less than the number of victims of British colonial rule.

Read Niall Ferguson.

Why would I read an avowed conservative and English nationalist for a fair account of the actions of British empire ? Anyone who have spoken out in support of invasion of Iraq isn't going to have a lot of credibility these days.

The legacy of British in India includes millions of natives dead from the starvation caused by the imperial taxation, devastation of local economy and legacy of armed conflict still playing out in Pakistan.

Not sure what particular legacy in Kenia do you have in mind. Perhaps, the Mau May uprising ?

During the 1954-60 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_concentration_camps#Kenya) Mau-Mau uprising in Kenya, camps were established to hold suspected rebels. It is unclear how many were held but estimates range up to 1.5 million - or practically the entire Kikuyu population. Between 130,000 and 300,000 are thought to have died as a result. Maltreatment is said to have included torture and summary executions. In addition as many as a million members of the Kikuyu tribe were subjected to ethnic cleansing. (Sources: . R. Galkovsky is ridiculous, I freely grant you that.
