Your homage to Mike Godwin remains wide off the mark in accounting for the historical and economic origins of the most populous democracy on our planet. As for the British colonial legacy in Kenya versus the Belgian one in the Congo, it is the difference between a presidential representative democratic republic maintained by free and fair open elections and a tribal shithole perpetually riven by ethnic strife. Admittedly, the latter model comes much closer to your current social experience.
