Didn't get the load up on the Adobe, but have been checking the scotus wiki. Did they rule broadly or narrowly? If broadly this would have a lot of repercussions, I take it, as, well, it would be generally unconstitutional to ban handguns, and by extension perhaps other gun bans as well. Is that your take?
The ruling looks broad enough as to keeping, much narrower as to bearing. Scalia has affirmed general legality of registration and licensing but left undecided the level of scrutiny applicable to such regulation. Complete bans on new registrations of handguns and machine guns are likely to fall soon. Complete lack of provisions for licensed concealed carry may stand for a while.
