If I had my druthers, any citation of the AK47 as a winning battle arm would be made in the historical context of Russian wartime casualty rates ranging from 2:1 to 10:1 in favor of the eventually vanquished adversary. Since I have but one life to live, it is best safeguarded by more precise weapons.

If you happened to be grasping the AK-47 in your hands then you should aim to your rear. Truly if youre with the AK-47 youre on the wrong side, and the righteous thing you can do is to shoot your commander. And the AK's defects merely suggest this idea.

Herewith another gem of Russian battle tactics. At the outset of WWII, Russian assaults proceeded in three waves. The first comprised troops that were armed and shod. The second was unarmed. The third went barefoot. All casualties were to be stripped of rifles and boots by their successors.
